I         GETTING STARTED

This software requires Microsoft[i] Internet Explorer version 4.01 or above.  Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.5 is recommended.  Even though an Internet connection is not required, AV 2004 uses Internet Explorer to display the bible text as HTML.

Windows XP users should select "Use HTML Files" from the <Options> tab after the installation.  The default installation should be fine for all other versions of Windows.

II      INSTALL AV 2004

Execute the "AV 2004" Installation Program.  This is accomplished by inserting the floppy diskette #1 into your computer and navigating to “Drive A:” in the Windows Explorer.  Then double-click on the installation program to initiate the “Setup” program.

The name of the AV 2004 installation program is Setup, or Setup.exe as shown below:

NOTE for AV-2004 CDROM Edition:

Installation from CDROM is identical to the diskette installation, except you must first navigate to your CDROM drive, instead of the “A:” drive.

NOTE for AV-2004 Internet Edition:

If you have downloaded the Internet version, AV-2004.exe may be the name of the “Setup” program.

III    RUN AV 2004

Run the AV Bible Program.  This is accomplished by clicking the Start Menu, and selecting “The Holy Bible” as depicted below:

NOTE:          There may be a delay in the initial execution if you choose to <USE HTML FILES> under the options menu as this publishes the entire King James Version (KJV) Bible[ii] into HTML format. This option consumes about 32 additional megabytes of hard-disk space (the <LOCAL WEB SERVER> option does not require this additional harddisk space; Windows XP is not currently compatible with the <LOCAL WEB SERVER> option).

IV      USING AV 2004

Browse the AV Bible using the Yellow arrows, clicking on a book, or using the arrow keys on your keyboard.  To publish a book or chapter, right-click on the desired book/chapter as shown below:

To search the bible, click on the magnifying glass.

V         SEARCHING THE SCRIPTURES

After a search is initiated, the following screen will appear:

In this case, we have specified that we would like to find all verses that contain divine or Godhead.  Clicking on the word “divine” above reveals its associated Strongs numbers.  In fact, you can even search on Strongs numbers using the above screen (e.g. You could search on H5172).  Again, all words placed into the list above are treated as an “or” condition.  If you wanted to find all verses that contained (divine or godhead) and (unto), you would click on the 2 tab above and add the word “unto” as a secondary search condition.  Once you are satisfied with the search criteria, you click “Next >>” to preview which verses were found.  Clicking “Finish” on the final screen will return you to the original window with a list of found verses.

VI      USING THE AV BIBLE with MICROSOFT WORD

AV 2004 can publish (and print) the Bible as a series of production quality Microsoft-Word (RTF) or WordPerfect[iii] documents.  It should be noted that these RTF and WordPerfect documents can be produced even if you do not have a copy of Microsoft-Word or WordPerfect, but to view the documents you will need the associated program or viewer.

Alternatively, to simplify preparing bible studies, AV 2004 can be used from within Microsoft Word.  This is known as “integration into Microsoft Word”.  It is called integration, as AV 2004 becomes an integral part of Microsoft Word.  Once integration is complete, AV 2004 adds a Bible menu to Microsoft’s standard Menu-Bar.  This menu item permits searches of the AV text without ever leaving Microsoft Word.  The found verses are subsequently inserted into the current document.  Additionally, integration adds the capability of inserting AV Bible text by specifying a chapter-and-verse.  Click on the “Advanced Integration” button from the Options tab to initiate the process of Microsoft Word integration.  See the Help tab for additional details on how to achieve this integration.

VII    FINAL WORDS ABOUT AV 2004

See readme.txt for detailed licensing restrictions.  Basically, it says that you are free to copy this software and give it away to whom ever you please.  “The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.”  (Psalms 68:11)

If you are a C++ or Delphi developer and you would like to assist in a port of the software to Linux or the Mac, please contact the program author via email at kevin@wonus.com.
